It’s another sweltering day in Lake County. If the heat has you thinking only about cool iced drinks by a seaside pool instead of how to entertain your kids, we’re here to help! A quick look at 10 ways you can keep cool in Lake County, iced drink optional.
1. Dive in!
Nothing beats the heat quite like jumping into a nice and refreshing pool! Even your littlest ones will love just floating and lounging in a cool pool. Deerspring Pool, Deerfield even has a shaded area so you can relax in the water without being baked in the sun. Find a Tot Swim near you and enjoy the water without having to worry about bigger kids!
2. Dive in without the Sun!
Want the refreshing feel of a swim without having to bake in the sun? Visit one of the indoor pools and water parks in the area! Arctic Splash, Wheeling has both daily open times as well as a Tot Swim. Find more indoor pools to try out.
Run through the sprinklers and splash in the puddles at one of Lake County’s many splash pads and spray parks. Don’t let the kids have all the fun! Run through with them for an instant refresher!
4. Family Movie Night
Set up a movie theater in your house and enjoy the AC! Turn off all the lights and shut out the sun while you enjoy popcorn for lunch and skip naps to cuddle up and enjoy! You can find some of our favorite movies on our Family Movie Night Board. Or if you prefer the big screen check out some of the Summer Movie Clubs for Kids!
Declare it an art day and work on some easy wall-worthy art projects or visit one of the cool local art studios and create a project in a new medium. You can also drop the kids off at a local art studio for a drop-off paint night and go enjoy one of those before mentioned iced drinks.
6. Popsicle Party!
7. Eat Ice Cream for Dinner
8. Visit a Museum
9. Hit the Ice!
10. Hit the Road!
