There’s no need to worry about jet lag or travel visas.  The rich traditions and mysteries of China will unfold to your child in nearby Highland Park!

We’re very excited to host our “Travel to China” playdate at the Highland Park Public Library!  Little Lake County’s Managing Editor Jennifer J. has been here, and describes it as follows:

Now imagine taking your children to a library built out of Indiana limestone, with gothic-style doors and interior wooden archways, expansive ceilings, hearths, vibrant murals, opening to a pathway to a  rose garden–here in Lake County.

You can read Jennifer’s full review of the Highland Park Public Library.

While you are there, be sure to visit The Inger Boye Children’s room with a cozy reading space, toys, and natural play areas like the tree hollow puppet theater.

With its vast collection of books, excellent children’s programming, and gothic-style architecture you can spend a blissful morning, afternoon or even a full-day of library adventures.

On our final trip to China, library staff will read stories and facilitate crafts that celebrate Chinese culture.  Native-speaking instructors from Language Stars Deerfield/Lake Forest will utilize their  FunImmersion® techniques to introduce your child to Mandarin, the official spoken language of the People’s Republic of China.

For a firsthand account, check out my review of a Language Stars class from 2014.
