The Sleeping Beauty production will enthrall and entertain young and not-so-young audience members alike. A condensed version will be performed of the well-known story set to the original music by Tchaikovsky.
Peter and the Wolf comes to life in the second half of the program. Many adults may be familiar with this classic fairy tale. It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the lyrical sounds of an orchestra. In the story, each character is represented by an instrument: the bird (flute), the duck (oboe), the cat (clarinet), grandfather (bassoon), the wolf (french horns) and Peter (strings).
After each show young audience members are invited to meet the cast and have the dancers sign autographs. I start to smile when I think of all the little would-be ballerinas staring starstruck at the fully-costumed dancers and clutching their little pens. #toomuchcute
