The Sleeping Beauty production will enthrall and entertain young and not-so-young audience members alike.  BTI will perform a condensed version of the well-known story set to the original music by Tchaikovsky.

Peter and the Wolf comes to life in the second half of the program. Many adults may be familiar with this classic fairy tale.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to the lyrical sounds of an orchestra. In the story, each character is represented by an instrument: the bird (flute), the duck (oboe), the cat (clarinet), grandfather (bassoon), the wolf (french horns), and Peter (strings).

After each show, young audience members are invited to meet the cast and have the dancer’s sign autographs.  I start to smile when I think of all the little would-be ballerinas staring starstruck at the fully-costumed dancers and clutching their little pens.  #toomuchcute

Try It for Girl Scouts
For each of their productions, Ballet Theatre of Illinois offers a Try It for Girl Scouts that provides the opportunity for scouts to earn their dance badge. For this show, the Try It for Girl Scouts will be at the Saturday, 4 pm show. Girl Scouts will attend the show and then after the show, they will complete a dancer badge with company members. The program includes learning dances from the show and touring backstage. Pre-registration is required. Call 847-247-2240 or email [email protected] to pre-register.
