Best Stocking Stuffers for All Ages

Hopefully, unlike me, you are done with your Christmas shopping. Did you get your stocking stuffers too? We frequently forget and end up running to the store on December 22 (or 23!) and ending up with a lot of candy and junky stuff just so the stockings aren’t empty. Well unlike me, you have help! We’ve put together this list of the best stocking stuffers, broken down by age, so your stockings can be filled with the best non-junky gifts ever. Amazon links provided if you don’t want to go out (order by tomorrow!) we also give you some local options of where you can find them, we’re versatile like that.

As with all are gift guides, these are all kid tested, parent approved!

Best Stocking Stuffers

My number one tip for stocking stuffers: if you have a long drive on Christmas Morning put a few things in the stocking that are great for travel. Then the kids have something new to do, read, play with on the way to the festivities!

Stocking Ideas for Babies & Toddlers

Chicago Cubs Wooden Baby Rattle Set

I’m partial to wooden toys, especially rattles because they just make a more delightful sound. These give you several varieties in one box and you can relive the World Series excitement when the baby pitches them at you. Available in other teams as well.

Locally check out New Mother New Baby (Northbrook) for quality wooden rattles, though not MLB ones.

Board Books

Small Board Books make great stoking stuffers, they usually even distract little ones from the other people opening gifts! Our favorite are the Usborne Touchy-Feely, that’s not my series: That’s Not My Dragon…(Usborne Touchy-Feely Books). Each of my kids has gotten them by what they were obsessed with at the time, trucks, trains, polar bears.

Pick them up locally at Learning Express Toys {Lake Zurich} or check out our list of Independent Book Sellers.

Hand Puppets

According to Alli: Folkmanis hand puppets- or any! Puppets are my JAM and are such an incredible piece to add to any toy collection. Can you go wrong having a turtle read bedtime stories? I think not.

Stocking Ideas for Preschoolers

Melissa & Doug On the Go Water Wow! Activity Book, 3-Pack – Animals, Alphabet, and Numbers

We love the Water Wow! Books. No markers mean no messy hands, no crayons to melt in the car, no pieces to loose, they are perfect. Well almost, don’t leave the pens in the car in the winter (ask me how I know!). Varieties include hidden pictures as well as learning (letters and numbers) and their are several varieties.

Green Kids Resale {Round Lake Beach} has a huge selection of these located on the cash wrap, bonus they are 25% off right now!
Hape – Mighty Mini – Racer Bamboo Toy Car
These durable cars are a favorite of Alli’s. They come in all kinds of varieties and colors, including planes! They would also be perfect for toddlers. Find them locally at Brainstorm {Lindenhurst}

Hape Eye Spies Toy
Turn the world into a kalediscope! Fun for toddlers through preschoolers. Find them locally at Brainstorm

Stocking ideas for Big Kids and Tweens

I know, really all they want are gift cards, maybe some candy, but the holidays are about FUN so we have some fun for you to share with them:

 Super Impulse 3D Motokits will give your big kids something constructive to do as they build their own wind up and pull back toys. The toys are pretty detailed including having working dumps and gates in the construction set.  Sets retail for $4.99 and can be found locally at Brilliant Sky Toys & Books {Deer Park} and  Tales and Toys {Highand Park}

LEGO, Mixels

According to my kids mini figures are so last year, Mixels are what they want. Either way they both may perfect stocking stuffers. Pick them up at big box stores or C&A Robot Factory {Libertyville}

Star Wars Episode 7 Force Awakens Top Trumps

I love toys that come in so many varieties you can get every kid one and they will all be different.  Top Trump is a card game similar to War only you can get it in anything your kids love, from history (Presidents) to animals (Deep Sea Creatures ) Shopkins to  Superheros, Harry Potter and more, there is something for everyone!

fun office suppliesAnything emoji. These are all from the Debbie Lynn line we featured last year, but you can find emoji everything and anything just about everywhere. I know I’m officially old since i don’t get it.

Other stuffers perfect for everyone:

  • Chocolate – really it’s all you need to put in my stocking. Find it locally.
  • A art notebook and new crayons, markers, colored pencils – pick them up locally at Artist @Heart
  • Tooth Brushes – needed after all that chocolate!
  • Many of the items on our out of the Toy Box list will go well in a stocking too
