LLC Loves libraries! In celebration of National Library Week we’re giving you a look inside some of our favorite libraries. Going beyond the books to the amenities, programs, and features that make them our favorite places. Today we are visiting the Fox Lake District Library.
First, I have to say that we are very fortunate here in Lake County to have so many fantastic libraries! Am I right? And the Fox Lake District Library is yet another great library that we love to frequent! This library is beautiful and spacious–and every time that I have been here, it is immaculately clean.

The kids’ amenities here are cheery, bright and huge! There is so much greatness here that I have to drag my five-year-old away when it’s time to leave. She would happily spend all day (and evening) here if I’d let her.

There are so many bookshelves and seating options galore here. DVD’s and audio books are also some of the fantastic finds at this library. Encourage independent reading by trying out some books on CD. There are so many great choices here.

There are also activity bags, puzzles, and a table with magnetic building pieces.

A craft table is stocked daily with supplies and instructions for a simple make-and-take project.

There are many fun and age-appropriate reading nooks and study tables scattered throughout the library, as well as a little play area for toddlers.

Before we leave the library we always make a trip to the Friends Book Sale Room. With such a great selection of used books to choose from, we always find something we want to buy. Prices are amazing at around $1 or $2 each, or you can fill an entire bag for just $10.

Keep checking the library’s calendar of events as there is always something going on for various age groups. You’ll find book clubs, classes, stories and crafts, and for all those Lego fans out there–you’ll definitely want the details of the library’s Lego club!
