Jan and her Husband Stan wrote and illustrated over 260 Berenstain Bears Books that have delighted children for ages. I read the books as a child and they are some of my children’s favorites today.
To remember the Berenstain’s here is a look at some of our favorite books:

The Berenstain Bears and the Missing Dinosaur Bone
From Amazon: The Bear Detectives come to the aid of Dr. Bear at the Bear Museum. With less than an hour to spare, the cubs must find the missing dinosaur bone so that everyone can enjoy the dinosaur exhibit.
This was one of the first books my son read to me all on his own. He loves dinosaurs and adventure and this was a perfect mix of both for a young reader.

The Berenstain Bears and The Spooky Old Tree
From Amazon: Three terrified little bears explore the inside of a mysterious old tree and go into, up, through, over, down, and out.
We have this in a large anthology of favorite children’s books and my kids come back to it again and again. The love being scared (but not too scared!) and this story fits the bill. They love this one so much that they will recreate the story in the house and sneak up on the “great sleeping bear (dad)” and try not to wake him. Which is always a riot.

The Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV
From Amazon: When Mama Bear decides her family spends too much time in front of the TV, she bans it for a week. Then the Bear family finds other ways to have fun and keep busy, so they watch less when TV is allowed again–and they don’t even miss it.
Alli likes using this story to help motivate her kids and get them out of the too much TV rut.

The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room
“The room shared by Brother and Sister is a mess because the cubs argue over who should neaten up instead of working together. Sure to make toddlers smile while they absorb an implied lesson.”–Publishers Weekly.
Cindy said “this was my favorite and still is! I was a messy kid and I was so inspired by that book. All I wanted was a pegboard in my bedroom and closet with a bunch of toy boxes labeled” Many it will be inspiration for your kids to clean up too!
