My kids, especially my girls, absolutely love butterflies. They tiptoe through our garden trying to get up close to them to get a better look. One of our favorite summer activities is to go visit the Butterflies & Blooms exhibt at the Chicago Botanic Garden – where no tiptoeing is needed!
Butterflies & Blooms is a special seasonal exhibt at the Chicago Botanic Garden that just opened this past weekend. We checked it out during it’s first summer and my kids still love visiting it! My pictures don’t do it justice but there are trees that are just covered in butterflies!
The butterfly enclosure is a 2,800 square feet mesh structure located on the lawn of the Learning Campus. Due to the nature of the enclosure this exhibit is weather dependent and will close for rain an/or lightning so it’s not a rainy day activity! Other things to note, there are lots of rocks that are tempting for little ones to climb on and there are no strollers allowed in the exhibt. If you have a curious toddler or a baby bring a baby carrier or an extra set of hands to help you through.
Butterflies and Blooms is open now through September 1.
You can see more photos from our last visit on our Facebook page.
