Celebrate National Hamburger Month

I can think of few things that are as worth celebrating as the beloved hamburger.  And yes, this also includes the most perfect food in the world: the cheeseburger.  Let’s celebrate this lovely month long holiday by trying some of Lake County’s hamburgers!  Here’s just a few to get you started on your journey:

Mickey Finn’s offers the crème brule of burgers, starting with Filet Mignon, and adding bleu cheese and a soft egg bun.  Served up with some of their ridiculously delicious sweet potato fries, and you got yourself a truly gourmet burger.  Add in some of their local summer brews on tap, and you won’t ever want to leave!

National Hamburger MonthLindy’s Landing is more than just a beautiful view of Bang’s Lake in Wauconda. It’s even more than getting to choose between sitting in their deck area or enjoying a delicious meal on a picnic bench in their sandy beach while the kiddos splash in the water.  It’s also burgers!  Build your own burger and add what you want to their 100% USDA Certified Ground Chuck burgers, and then choose your own bun.  Marble Rye?  Got it! Texas Toast?  You bet.  And yes… they have Gluten Free Buns!  Feeling adventurous?  Try the Ham-Dogger.  It’s basically a Chicago style hot dog, stuffed inside of a burger, and then topped with Vienna Beef Hotdog Bacon.  Just make sure you have plenty of time to nap afterword.

bulldogs burgerBulldogs Grill in Grayslake is burgers, burgers, and more burgers.  And you can choose from either beef, turkey, chicken or veggie style burgers.  This is the outside the box burger place that you have got to try!  Sure they have the classics, but Bulldogs is all about the topping combinations that are as unique as Bulldogs itself.  Like the Mac Daddy, that is covered in creamy mac n’cheese and bacon.  Or maybe you’d like chili fries… on TOP of your burger.  Or maybe even instead of a bun, let’s use two grilled cheese sandwiches!

classiccarMiller’s Dog N’ Suds serves up their burgers with some style.  Some retro, 1950s sock-hop style!  Delivered right to your parked car underneath their neon sign, by a server on roller skates!  I mean really… how do they do that?!  This family owned and super family friendly atmosphere has special events all summer long so definitely add it to your “summer must do’s” list!

Timothy O’Toole’s in Gurnee is the ultimate burger experience. Conquer this beast, and win yourself a t-shirt and some monster size bragging rights!  Their “Big Timmy Challenge” is two and a half pounds of burger patties, Cheddar, Jack, Mozzarella, Swiss, Bacon, Onion Straws, BBQ Sauce, Lettuce, Tomato & Red Onion.  Oh, and it comes with Onion Rings.
