Need something fun to do with your kids that doesn’t involve being outside (because it’s THAT cold)? It’s the perfect season to take in a movie! We’ve rounded up some of the special series as well as some free options so you can warm up this winter in front of big screen.

Free (or cheap) Movies for Kids
Kids Dream Winter Movie Series
Download two free movie passes courtesy of American Family Insurance for one of their Kids Dream Movies. Movies are held on Saturday, and Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Marcus Theatres in Gurnee {Gurnee Mills}. Featured movies will be:
- March 2-3 Smallfoot
- March 9-10 Ferdinand
- March 16-17 Teen Titan Go! To the Movies
- March 23-24 Trolls
- March 30-31 House with a Clock in its Walls
- April 6-7 Sing
- April 13-14 The Grinch
Admission without printing the passes is $3 per person. Special sizing applies to promotional $2.75 popcorns and fountain drinks. Titles and dates are subject to change. All titles will be shown in standard 2D only, and are rated PG.
Library Movies (February)
Your library isn’t just a great place to checkout movies at no cost. Many also host monthly movie showings on their big screens. Perfect for little ones who may be intimidated in a large theater. Here is what we have seen coming up in March:
- Theater Thursday March 7, Indian Trails Public Library for children in grades 6-8
- Kids Movie Night March 21, Round Lake Area Public Library
