Watching a performance of The Nutcracker is an iconic holiday tradition that many parents are anxious to share with their own children. If you’re the parent of a preschooler, you may think you have to delay the excursion until your child is older. You might say to yourself, “Will my child sit still through the whole show?” or “Will he/she understand what’s happening?” It’s time to set those worries aside…

Clara’s Dream is a 60-minute shortened presentation of The Magic of the Nutcracker designed specifically for a young audience. You can enjoy this show with your family on Saturday, December 15th, 10:30 a.m. at Libertyville High School.

Children will be delighted by Clara’s adventures, beginning with her family’s annual Christmas Party, and her mysterious Godfather, Drosselmeyer.
Excitement builds in a spectacular battle scene with dancing mice and soldier dolls.

Finally, Clara travels to the Kingdom of the Sweets where she is greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her friends from all around the world!
This storybook presentation includes an intermission so little ones can take a break to walk around, visit the restroom, and shake their sillies out. If you have ever hesitated to take your small child to a live performance, there’s no longer any need to wait! One mom, Tiffany Soler, said,
Clara’s Dream was a perfect first-time theater experience for my 2-year old daughter!
In addition to the performance, you can purchase a special “Clara’s Special Party” ticket and really bring the magic of the Nutcracker Ballet to life. The special party tickets allows your child to come onstage after the show for a special meet & greet experience with the performers. This is always one of my daughter’s favorite experiences getting to see the performers up close and ask them about their hair and costumes or perhaps how they did something. The party includes photo opportunities and a goody bag and does require an additional (limited) ticket.

Tickets for Clara’s Dream may be purchased via the Dancenter North office at 540 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville or by calling (847) 367-7970 beginning at Noon on October 19. Seating is reserved. Prices are $15 for Orchestra and $12 for Main and balcony seats. Clara’s Special Party is an additional $20 and includes 1 child and up to two chaperones.
