Every year, my family hears about Cop on Top (of Dunkin Donuts) to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics and last year we happened to stumble upon the officers in Lindenhurst. I’m a (very) proud sister of a law enforcement officer, so it is really exciting for my crew to see these heroes on top of mommy’s coffee shop, er…. Dunkin’ Donuts!
On Friday, May 20, 2016 cops will be on Dunkin’ Dontus rooftops around Lake County raising funds for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. This year marks the 14th anniversary of this fundraiser where you may find cops playing games for your donations (last year some departments dropped donut holes from the rooftop into the mouths of officers on the ground). Customers who make a donation to the Torch Run will receive a coupon for a free donut. If you donate at least $10, you will receive a Torch Run/Dunkin’ Donuts stainless steel coffee mug and coupon for a free coffee while supplies last. More Torch Run merchandise will be available at locations around Lake County.

Participating Lake County departments:
- Highland Park Police Department, volunteers and Special Olympians will be at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 1990 Skokie Valley Road from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Round Lake Police Department will be at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 280 S US Hwy 120 in Volo from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Vernon Hill Police Department will be on top of the Dunkin’ Donuts at the Hawthorn Hills Shopping Center (Rte. 21 & 60) from 5:00-9:00 a.m.
- Waukegan Police Department will be at the Dunkin’ Donuts at 21 South Greenbay Road from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
