It’s a typical winter day. A great day for coffee. If you’re on the west side of Lake County, why not try Daisy’s Artish Cafe? Daisy’s can be found just north of Route 132 on Milwaukee Avenue in Lake Villa.

Step inside to cozy lighting, comfy couches, and overstuffed chairs. Fun art decorates the wall.
Daisy’s is different than other coffee houses in that it caters to both adults and kids. Artsy kids. In addition to coffee and treats, Daisy’s offers art workshops during the day, after school, and on weekends to kids of all ages. The owner, Daisy Perez, is an artist and teaches classes in mixed media, painting, and seasonal crafts. Check out the calendar for the complete list of classes. In addition, there is story time, family board game afternoons, and wine and paint parties (for adults). Note: Lake County Veterans and Family Services hosts a Vet Night there Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Veterans receive a free coffee and pastry.
So what are the details on the coffee? They have a wide variety of choices: latte, espresso, black eye, caramel macchiato, to name a few. Coffee Alert: Daisy’s offer something called affrogato: espresso with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! If that doesn’t sound fabulous, then I don’t know what does. Prices vary, depending on the coffee, but a 16 ounce cup is around $3. They also have tea, chai, fruit smoothies, and lemonade. I also learned what a steamer is: steamed milk with a flavor mixed in. Perfect for the kiddos. Their sweets case (featuring treats from Riverside Bakery) includes donuts, cookies, apple fritters, bagels, and danishes. But they also have fun quiches from Lake Geneva Pie Company, including veggiemeister, meat lovers, and Lorraine.
Meeting a friend for coffee with kids in tow? This is a perfect location. There are various board games, coloring books, and puzzles to keep them occupied.
Daisy’s also sells local artisans’ work as well as her own. You will notice artwork on the walls and an area with jewelry, clothing, soaps, bath salts, and mittens for sale.
So next time you’re in the area, try Daisy’s Artish Cafe. It has something for everyone.
