Easter is this weekend, have you gotten your goodies yet? Admittedly I am a last minute shopper for everything, so no I don’t have baskets yet. We asked on our Facebook Page for some ideas for Easter Baskets for Young Children. My family is in the middle of Spring cleaning and purging, so the thought of baskets full of little junky things is not high on my priority list. Here are the suggestions from our readers, plus a few of our tried and true favorites in our house:

Easter Basket Ideas for Young Children
1. Books

Books we’re a top suggestion and one of our favorites to give! One of our favorite Easter books is The Story of Easter by Patricia Pingry. It’s a pretty book and tells the story simply for young children. This year our focus was on easy readers for our new and emerging readers. Our girls are getting the Junior Novelization of Frozen (which is about the only Frozen merchandise we could find in stock anywhere!) and a Fancy Nancy I can Read Book.
Find it locally: Lake Forest Bookstore or Barbara’s Bookstore, Vernon Hills.
2. Flashlights

Flashlights are a fun gift for toddlers and preschoolers especially right before late summer nights! This is the
Melissa and Doug Bibi Bee Kids’ Flashlight, part of the Sunny Patch Collection. Just about anything form the Sunny Patch collection makes a good basket filler.
Find it locally: Snicklefritz Toys, Vernon Hills
3. Fun Candy

Little Lake County Reader Heather picked up Peas and Carrot Jelly Beans at the Jelly Belly Factory in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin. They usually have a weekend where you can see the bunny and take tours as well (all for free!).
4. Sidewalk Chalk

Spring is coming! Let your little artist decorate the neighborhood with some new sidewalk chalk! Crayola has so many new and fun kits out. We got our 3 year old a bucket with rainbow making tools. My older kids still love the Crayola 3D Sidewalk Chalk they got last year.
Find it Locally: Target
5. Sunglasses

The days are longer, and brighter! Pick up some stylish and cute sunglasses!
