Little Lake County parents are active, mobile and always seeking adventure! Sometimes we even traverse outside of our fair county to find family entertainment beyond our borders. Due to popular reader demand, we introduce “Little McHenry County,” a monthly column dedicated to finding fun with our neighbors to the west, written by McHenry County Moms in the know. This month we look at New Year’s Eve family celebrations in McHenry County.
Who doesn’t love a good New Year’s Eve celebration? Since having kids, New Year’s Eve has changed a bit for most of us. Some are brave enough to keep the kids up way past bedtime and party it up. (And regret it for a day or two or ten afterward …guilty.) And then there are those of us who want to celebrate with the kids and then get them all to bed so we can ring in the new year quietly with our spouses. (Also guilty.) Or perhaps we may even choose to fall asleep in front of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. (Cut me some slack, I was pregnant!) Luckily for us, all of these options are available in McHenry County.
You can fully enjoy a New Year’s celebration without overpaying a sitter or worrying about having the family out amongst the madness if that’s not your thing. Check out some of the family-friendly New Year’s celebrations in the area and don’t forget your party hat…
