In our home, weekends are for pancake breakfasts. We whip up silly little Batman & Robin Pancakes (for my Batman obsessed three-year-old and his sidekick dad), Mickey Mouse pancakes for the baby, and mom gets whatever she feels like making at the end. But some days, the creative pancake making gets left to the true professionals at the local pancake/breakfast joint.
We polled our readers recently for their favorite family spots for pancakes as well as added a few of our favorites, and so we present to you the BEST pancakes in Lake County (try to keep your salivating to a minimum)!

Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe
1783 N. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville | (847) 247-7777
If you are able to choose between the delicious options of tiramisu, Oreo s’mores, cinnamon roll, or banana cream pie flavored pancakes (only a few of the many sumptuous choices), then this might be your jam. This location is my personal favorite. I insisted upon it as my “last breakfast” before our first baby was born. Wildberry is also listed as one of our best places in Lake County for Mother’s Day Brunch.
Walker Brothers the Original Pancake House
620 Central Avenue, Highland Park | (847)432-0660
767 S. Rand Road, Lake Zurich | (847) 550-0006
200 Marriott Drive Lincolnshire | (847) 634-2220
Reader Sarah recommends the chocolate crepes. (Which are kind of like pancakes, right?) Also–bacon pancakes. Need I say more? This is Mom-in-Chief’s Melissa’s favorite place. Pre-kids a weekly brunch with Pecan Waffles was the norm, now we like to stop before our after seeing one of the children’s shows at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre.

Emily’s Pancake House
38730 Sheridan Road, Beach Park | (847) 249-1170
488 N. Green Bay Road, Waukegan | (847) 336-7700
1910 E. Grand Avenue, Lindenhurst | (224) 372-7158
Emily’s Pancake House offers a wide variety of toppings for your pancakes from fruits to nuts, and even ice cream. Gluten-free options are also available. Our readers also selected Emily’s Pancake House as one of their favorite local spots for hot cocoa. Pancakes and hot cocoa, sounds like a winning combination to me.
The Whistle Stop Cafe
15 E. Grand Ave, Fox Lake | (847)587-5654
“The eggnog pancakes with rum butter maple syrup are OOTW [out of this world]; and it’s the most kid-friendly restaurant ever, in Fox Lake”, according to one Facebook reader The Whistle Stop Cafe has also been featured in our Choo Choo Themes Restaurants in Lake County article.
Mauri’s Famous Cafe
510 E. Hawley Street, Mundelein | (847)-949-0950
Little Lake County reader Joann highly recommends the pumpkin pancakes at Mauri’s Famous Cafe in Mundelein.
