It may be the week before Mother’s Day, but we know many men will be scrambling the day before looking for the perfect gift. Now all you have to do is find a way to drop the hint!

1. Something Sweet
Mothers Day equals candy in my house. And you can’t get any better than Something Sweet in Antioch. Ashley Michel opened Something Sweet in 1998 and it’s become a must-visit shop in Lake County. Between the homemade fudge, signature barefoot, novelty candy and homemade truffles, you’re sure to find a winner in this shop! Ashely has a few Mother’s Day gifts boxed up and ready to grab on your way home from your “trip to the hardware store” the day before Mother’s Day, so pop in and grab some chocolate roses, a traditional box of truffles or a sample basket that will be sure to win you some major points.

2. Eclectic Design Source
If you love elegant yet down-to-earth scents and home products, you’ll love anything from Eclectic Design Source. Mary has a few Mother’s Day-specific items, but she says that some men just come in and let her choose from her variety of unique items for their wives, and they’re happy every time. One of my favorites was the Pour Over Press which is a three in one coffee brewing system. You can make cold brew, French press or pour over coffee, and it comes with a one-pound bag of Eclectic Blend coffee.

Ecletic Design also carries the Lampe Burger, an in-home air purifier originally made for hospitals. This purifier uses medical grade alcohol and a flameless system that pulls air in and purifies it along with adding a lovely scent into the air.

About Kari Alford 25 Articles
Kari is a military wife who gets to travel the globe with her favorite people: her family! She has a husband who is funnier than she lets on, a daughter who is more creative than anyone she’s ever met, and a son who is always up for an adventure (especially if it involves a sword fight!) Kari hails from Michigan, but thanks to joining the Navy when she was 19, she has lived in California and Japan until returning to the Midwest in 2015. Kari loves to experience what cities have to offer but also loves to kayak with her family, or explore the wilderness. Every day is a different one since she’s on her children’s school’s PTO board, the AYLL board, and goes to college part time. Kari hates being bored, so you’ll often find her with her crochet bag, working on an afghan while she’s waiting for her children during practice.
