Five Places for Pizza by the Slice in Lake County

Perfect for lunch

I would like to start off by saying that I had to write this article while on a diet. So I would like a little credit for suffering for my craft. Pizza is one of those foods I could eat pretty much every day and here in Lake County, we have so many choices. Pizza is not something you joke about when you live this close to Chicago. In fact, many people get very territorial and hostile when discussing their favorite pizza joints. Please don’t hurt me after reading about my favorite places for  pizza by the slice in Lake County.

Five Great Places for Pizza by the Slice

  1. Antioch Pizza
    994 Rt. 59 Antioch| (847) 395-6777
    1856 Grand Ave. Lindenhurst | (224) 444-8657

I had this amazing pizza for the first time a year ago and haven’t looked back. Order extra cheese and you will thank me over and over. You can get a slice here but you need to eat in to take advantage of the special which includes two slices and a drink.

  2. Jimano’s
    417 E. Rt. 173, Antioch | (847) 395-2121
    938 N. Green Bay Rd., Waukegan | (847) 263-1225
    254 E. Rollins Rd., Round Lake Beach | (847) 546-7008
    2952 W. Rt. 60, Mundelein | (847) 949-8400
    7010 W. Grand Ave., Gurnee | (847) 856-8696

Jimano’s has been our dependable pizza place for over 10 years and their pizza by the slice is one of our favorites. They only offer by the slice during lunch hours,  11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. so make it your lunch stop today. Prices start at $3.99 for a combo and run up to $4.59 depending on crust thickness and toppings.

  3. Olando’s Pizza Parlor and Ice Cream Shop
    843 W. Rollins Rd.. Round Lake Beach | (847) 546-2378

With some of the best pizza in the area, Olando’s offers pizza by the slice at the price of $3.09 each no matter the crust or topping. Get some ice cream for dessert because you only had one slice and you’re still hungry.

  4. Wayne’s Pizza
    34197 N. U.S. Highway 45, Third Lake | (847) 223-2441
Okay, this is one of the best pizza places too; I should have never signed up for this writing assignment because I can’t choose. Too many choices for good pizza is a good thing. Wayne’s has a couple of different specials that vary by crust and topping. Give Wayne a call and ask him what’s cooking. (Don’t ask for Wayne, most likely he isn’t there).
  5. Lou Malnati’s
    34500 N. Hwy. 45, Third Lake | (847) 231-5550
    1436 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville | (847) 362-6070

Two things: I know I already listed a pizza place in Third Lake and I am okay with this because Lou Malnati’s. Second, you can’t get pizza by the slice here but you CAN get your own personal deep dish pizza for $8.65 and that, my friends is how it’s done. Unless you get a bigger pizza, then THAT is how it’s done. I know I said the others were my favorite pizza places but I was lying; it’s this place. Maybe I wasn’t lying but rather I cannot make up my mind and neither should you.

Editors Note:
MY favorite place to purchase a slice did not make Kari’s list. And I didn’t want to change her numbers or story title. So I am adding it now:

Pizzeria DeVille
404 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville | (847) 367-4992
Enjoy a slice of wood-fired pizza here during lunch hours. A slice of cheese pizza will set you back $3.00; pepperoni and sausage pizza is $3.50; and specialty slices are $4.00. You won’t regret it. –Jennifer J.

About Kari Wagner Hoban 36 Articles
Kari loves to write and take photos, not necessarily in that order. Her journey started in 2010 when she sat down to write a few words on a private blog. She pressed “public” a few weeks later and the rest is history. Kari loves making people laugh, being real, and spending time with her husband and two daughters. She also really loves her dog Buddy and fish Lucy. When she is not busy writing or going through the Starbucks drive thru, you can find her talking to her plants Zoe, Evie and Albert. She didn’t name Evie. Her nine year old did. But she's totally an Edna so that’s what Kari calls her when her nine year old isn’t home.
