Free Traveling Summer Camp in Round Lake

The Round Lake Park District will once again be offering it’s Free Traveling Summer Camp for parents and children ages 3-5. The program provides parents/caregivers the tools, knowledge and skills needed to actively engage children in school readiness skills. Through mentoring, this free program has encouraged and motivated parents and caregivers to become their child’s first teacher.


Thanks to a grant from the United Way of Lake County. The Round Lake Area Park District will setup camp once a day 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday mornings from 9:30am-12pm beginning June 13th.  Weekly lessons plans are based on the Illinois Learning Standards and include alphabet, numbers, shapes, literacy and writing skills as well as small and large motor activities, crafts and a healthy snack. At the end of each session parents and their children receive take home bags to continue the activities at home with their children.

Tuesday Shagbark Park – 1940 Lotus Dr. Round Lake Heights 
Wednesday Fairview Park (next to Beach School) – 1505 Ardmore Dr, Round Lake Beach 
Thursday Bright Meadows Park – Wildspring Rd. Round Lake
