Indoor Pools in (and around) Lake County

Spring break has not been exactly spring-like in Lake County. If you weren’t lucky enough to get away to somewhere that has sun, and maybe sand you can still act like you did by visiting an indoor pool or water park.

Hours can change so please be sure to call ahead or check the website before heading out. Some facilities require you either be a member or live in the district.

Indoor Pools in Lake County

Aquadome Pool
(Located inside Buffalo Grove High School) 1100 West Dundee Road, Buffalo Grove | (847) 459-2310
Daily Fee for Open Swim $5 (under 2 is free)
Open Swim: Fridays 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1:30-4:00 p.m.
The pool is open to pass holders and daily guests. Inflatable and toys are set up at the Aquadome during weekend open swim periods. An adult (18 years old or older) must accompany children under the age of 7. Be sure to check the Aquadome website for changes due to school activities.

Sachs Recreation Center Pool
455 Lake Cook Rd, Deerfield | (847) 572-2600
Daily Fee for Open Swim $5 individual, $10 Family
Open Swim: Saturday & Sunday 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Lifeguards are on duty. Additional hours may be added during holidays, call for more information.

Warren Township O’Plaine Campus
500 N. O’Plaine Rd., Gurnee | (847) 599-3773 (during activities only) or call the Gurnee Park District Main Office at (847) 623-7788.
Entrance and parking to the pool is located on south-east side of building. The entrance to the building is labeled as “Pool and Gym Entrance. The use of toys, etc. will be allowed as long as the use of them does not create a safety hazard for self or others. These items may be removed at staff’s discretion based on attendance levels. A parent must be in the water with any children under 8 years of age.

FitNation Pool

A family locker room is available for families with children under the age of twelve that are utilizing the pool as part of their fitness membership, participating in drop-in programs or swim instruction. Open swim is $6 per person per day. Games, toys, etc. will be allowed as long as the use of them does not create a safety hazard for self or others. Games, toys, etc. may be removed depending on the attendance levels. A parent must be in the water with children under eight years of ages. See the open swim schedule online. 

Recreation Center of Highland Park

Daily Fee for Open Swim: $6 resident/ $7 non-resident. Children 3 and under are FREE with a paid adult. Open Swim hours daily, see website for schedule.
Children ages 11 and under must be supervised in the pool area by an adult at least 16 years or older. When two guards are on duty, a child must be 12 in order to swim on his or her own at the pool. If only one guard is on duty, a child must be 16 to swim on their own unless he or she has permission from the Aquatic Coordinator

Mundelein Community Center Pool

Daily Fee for Open Swim: Adult $6 res./$8 non-res., Children (3-16) $5 res./$7 non-res., Family of 3 $10 resident/ $15 non-res. Children 3 and under are FREE with a paid adult.
Family Swim is scheduled for the first and last  first and last weekend of the month at the times posted on the schedule on Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Specific dates for Family Swim are: 27-29 March, 3-5 April, 24-26 April and 1-3 May. Reminder, children 10 and younger must swim with a parent/guardian 16 years or older who remains within arm’s reach. Youth between the ages of 11 and 15 years must have an adult parent/guardian on the deck.

Illinois Beach Resort & Conference Center

Access the full-service health club with a one-day guest pass of $10 (complimentary for resort guests.) Day Pass includes access to large swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, locker room and other fitness amenities. Guests under 15 must be accompanied by an adult in all areas of facility. Arctic Splash Indoor Pool

Daily Fee for Open Swim: Adult $6.50, Children $5.50. Children 2 and under are FREE with a paid adult.
Open Swim: See online schedule Parent/Tot Swim Drop-in Tuesday ,Thursday, and Friday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. fee for this is $3 per parent Free for child.
The Arctic Splash offers a variety of days and times for you and your family to enjoy this indoor water play land. See the Open and Lap Swim schedule for dates and times. Children under the age of 10 years must be accompanied by a swimming adult age 17 or older. Children under the age of 5 years must remain within arms reach of a swimming adult at all times. Only U.S. Coast Guard Approved flotation devices are allowed; no closed-nose masks are allowed.

Lakeview Fitness Center

Daily drop-in fee is $9 for adults and $5 for children (higher rates for non residents). The indoor swimming pool at Lakeview Fitness Center features four 25 yard lap lanes, a thrilling water slide and an enjoyable children’s play structure. The water slide will be made available during the scheduled time on the pool schedule and during select pool party rentals. Swimmers wishing to use the water slide must be 48 inches tall. The play structure is available upon request during open swim times. Only coast guard approved flotation devices are allowed in the pool and on the slide.

 

Worth the Trip

While not in Lake County this parks are just a short trip and if you’re looking for some wet fun they are worth the trip.

Splash Landings

Daily Fee for Open Swim: $6 per person, Children 2 and under are FREE with a paid adult.
Family Swim:Tuesday and Thursday (no water slide) 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Friday 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m. Family Swim Hours are designated for patrons of all ages to swim and enjoy the spray play features and slides in both pools (unless otherwise noted). Two to three lap lanes are available for those patrons 13 years of age and older who wish to swim laps. Children under the age of 9 must be supervised by an adult at least 16 years of age or older. This adult must be in proper swim attire and within an arm’s reach of the child at all times.

Fun and fitness go hand in hand in our 17,000 square foot indoor water park.  Upon entering the pool area, you’ll find yourself surrounded by a massive sea-scape mural and greeted by a blast of warm air. The three water slides, in-pool playground, zero-depth entry, geysers and fountains combine to make one big indoor water park! Add to this four 25-yard lap lanes, a current channel, and a hot tub, and you’ve got a one-stop fun and fitness destination that you and your family are going to love all year round!

 

While Key Lime Cove in Gurnee is a great water park they don’t have day passes for anyone but guests, except during the United Way’s Community Days Promotion.  For $25, you can purchase an individual, one-time use day pass to the Lost Paradise Water park at Key Lime Cove. The passes are valid from April 13 – June 13, 2015 (excluding Memorial Day weekend, May 22-25) and are only available through this promotion.
