Splash Around on Spring Break

Spring break has not been exactly spring-like in Lake County. If you weren’t lucky enough to get away this week to somewhere that has sun, and maybe sand you can still act like you did by visiting an indoor pool or water park.

Hours can change so please be sure to call ahead or check the website before heading out. Some facilities require you either be a member or live in the district.

{Buffalo Grove} Aquadome Pool

Daily Fee for Open Swim $5 (under 2 is free)
Open Swim: Fridays 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 1:30-4:00 p.m.
The pool is open to pass holders and daily guests. An inflatable and toys are set up at the Aquadome during weekend open swim periods. An adult (18 years old or older) must accompany children under the age of 7. Be sure to check the Aquadome weebsite for changes due to school activities.

Open Swim: Saturday & Sunday 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Lifeguards are on duty. Additional hours may be added during holidays, call for more information.

Entrance and parking to pool located on south east side of building.  The entrance to the building is labeled as “Pool and Gym Entrance. The use of toys, etc. will be allowed as long as the use of them does not create a safety hazard for self or others.  These items may be removed at staff’s discretion based on attendance levels.  A parent must be in the water with any children under 8 years of age.

Please enter the Special Education of Lake County (SEDOL) Campus from Gages Lake Rd onto Charles Gardener Rd.  Once on campus, the second building on your left (Gages Lake School) houses the pool area, continue driving around this building to the north side of the building (past the playground) to find the parking lot and entrance to the pool which is under a large covered canopy extending from the building to the parking lot. The use of toys, etc. will be allowed as long as the use of them does not create a safety hazard for self or others.  These items may be removed at staff’s discretion based on attendance levels.  A parent must be in the water with any children under 8 years of age. Daily Fee for Open Swim: $6 resident/ $7  non resident. Children 3 and under are FREE with a paid adult.
Open Swim: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 12:00-9:30 p.m., Thursday 3-9:30 p.m., Friday 12:00 – 7:00 p.m., Saturday 1:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Children ages 11 and under must be supervised in the pool area by an adult at least 16 years or older. When two guards are on duty, a child must be 12 in order to swim on his or her own at the pool. If only one guard is on duty, a child must be 16 to swim on their own unless he or she has permission from the Aquatic Coordinator

Note: No Family swim 3/9 and 3/31
For Family Swim – A child 10  and under must be accompanied in the water by a parent/guardian 16 or older. A child between 11 and 15 must be accompanied on the deck by a parent/guardian 16 or older.

{Wheeling} Arctic Splash Indoor Pool

The Arctic Splash offers a variety of days and times for you and your family to enjoy this indoor water play land.  See the Open and Lap Swim schedule for dates and times. Children under the age of 10 years must be accompanied by a swimming adult age 17 or older. Children under the age of 5 years must remain within arms reach of a swimming adult at all times. Only U.S. Coast Guard Approved flotation devices are allowed; no closed-nose masks are allowed.

 

Worth the Trip

While not in Lake County this parks are just a short trip and if you’re looking for some wet fun they are worth the trip.

{Glenview} Splash Landings

Family Swim:Tuesday and Thursday (no water slide)  11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., Friday 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday 1:00-5:00 p.m., and Sunday 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Family Swim Hours are designated for patrons of all ages to swim and enjoy the spray play features and slides in both pools (unless otherwise noted). Two to three lap lanes are available for those patrons 13 years of age and older who wish to swim laps. Children under the age of 9 must be supervised by an adult at least 16 years of age or older. This adult must be in proper swim attire and within an arm’s reach of the child at all times.

Whatever level of swimming you are looking for ….we have what you need.  Our state of the art aquatic facilities offer you water fitness & fun!  You can enjoy lap swimming, playing in the Water park, or joining one of Patriots Swimming Programs.
