If cabin fever is setting in, and you are needed a little non-gym exercise, we have compiled a list of a few indoor walking tracks in Lake County. These tracks are available to the public to use–so get your legs moving.

As I prepare for some spring races, indoor tracks are an essential part of my preparation. None of these facilities requires a membership, but you can certainly get one for a great price and enjoy full use of the facilities.

Indoor Walking Tracks in Lake County

Lindenhurst Park District
2200 East Grass Lake Road, Lindenhurst | (847) 356-6011
This one is a personal favorite because it is both close to home, reasonably priced, and offers a few extra amenities. Open from 9:00 a.m. -9:00 p.m.,  it costs only $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents. Besides the three-lane indoor track, it also has two elliptical machines, a rower and a weight area, and offers towel use on the honor system. The only downside is that the track is one of the smallest in the area at approximately 14 laps per mile.

Libertyville Sports Complex
1950 N. IL Route 45, Libertyville | (847) 367-1502
This indoor comprehensive sports complex opens its doors to walkers and runners on Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For only $1, you may use the perimeter of the facility (which does not have an official track, but works just as well). One lap is 1/4 mile, making it the biggest one in the area. It is stroller-friendly, and walkers or runners may use the locker rooms.
