Kid Friendly New Years Eve Events {2014}


Does the ball drop after the kids (and your) bedtime? It doesn’t have to this year! Many places in Lake County are throwing “New Years at Noon” parties to celebrate the New Year at a much more reasonable hour and with more fun for the kids.

Monday, December 29th and Tuesday, December 30th
11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Ring in The New Year  Lake County Discovery Museum, Wauconda.
Celebrate the New Year with crafts, party favors and a ball drop at noon.
FREE with Museum admission.

Tuesday December 30
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  New Years Noon, Vernon Area Public Library, Lincolnshire
Wear your fancy party clothes and come sip sparkling cider as we celebrate New Year’s Eve a little early. Enjoy stories, songs, a craft, and a special countdown just before noon! Call the library at 224-543-1486 for more information.

Wednesday, December 31st
8:30 – 11:00 a.m. or 12:30 – 3:00 p.m. New Years Eve Party, Kohl Children’s Museum, Glenview
Doubling the fun with two New Years celebrations as the entire wing of the Museum is transformed into a giant Times Square-style party with the biggest confetti drop you’ve ever seen!

  • Children’s concert with Wendy Morgan & DB (morning session only)
  • DJ and dance party (afternoon session only)
  • Free kids’ party hairstyling and coloring from Kidsnips!
  • Party hat making and horns
  • Free family photos and photo frame decorating to remember the day

Tickets are $31 per person for non-members and $21 for members.  Tickets are required for adults and children over 12 months of age at each session. Please note that New Year’s Eve Bash tickets are non-refundable. Visit their website to purchase tickets.

12:00 – 7:00 p.m. (and January 1st 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.) Legoland Discovery Center’s New Year’s Celebration Legoland Discovery Center, Schaumburg
Ring in 2015 with bricktacular balloon drops at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Guests can also enjoy the Center’s nine attractions, including the Jungle Expedition, Kingdom Quest Laser Ride, LEGO 4D Cinema and more.

10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Mom, Pops, & Tiny Tots Skate Party, Skate on Grand Roller Rink, Fox Lake.
Ring in the New Year with the kids. Admission $10.00 includes regular skate rental and a raffle ticket. There will be a balloon drop at Noon with prizes stuffed in the balloons. Activities include 3 hours of  open go-karting, rock climbing, bounce houses, and 5 arcade tokens (you may buy additional.) Each paid child will also receive party favors. The last half hour all guests and employees will gather on the dance floor for the countdown. Price: Pre-Order Your Tickets For $12.00. 10:45 a.m.- 1:00 p.m- New Years Eve Celebration at Jump Zone, Jump Zone, Volo.
A New Years Eve celebration for EVERYONE without having to stay up late! Featuring a HUGE noon balloon drop, pizza & sparkling juice for all kids & adults, and party hats & noisemakers for all kids Admission: $15/Child ($14 per additional sibling) and $5/Adult in advance$17/Child & $7/Adult at the door) Reservations are not required but are strongly recommended as tickets are limited for this event which has sold out in the past. 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Family New Years Event at Timothy O’Tooles, Timothy O’Tooles Pub, Gurnee.
A fun night planned with dinner specials, kid-friendly food, party favors, a New Years countdown at 7:00 p.m., a sundae bar, and a make and take craft. For more information call 847-249-0800

5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Family New Years Event at Dave & Busters, Dave & Busters Vernon Hills.
Join us for an early New Year’s Eve ball drop and family celebration. Food, drink and play packages starting at $27.99 per person. Book a ticket now on their website.

6:00 – 9:00 p.m. New Years Eve Balloon Drop & Pop at Rinkside, Rinkside Family Entertainment Center, Gurnee.
What a great way for families to ring in the New Year. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. This is open to only those that purchase the package. Choose between the red or blue packages. Each package includes pizza, salad and soda, ice skating and rental, unlimited laser tag and mini golf, prizes and giveaways, hats and noisemakers, and the big countdown and balloon drop at 9 p.m. The packages differ only on the times of the activities. Buy advance tickets for $25 per person and $30 at the door. Tax not included. Limited tickets available, don’t delay as this family fun event sells out.

9:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve Celebration, Wilmot Mountain, Wilmot, WI
A professional fireworks display (weather dependent) along with a Torch Light Parade on the slopes and a Kids Light Parade outside the Main Lodge.  Chair lifts will be spinning until 1 a.m. for skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. Live music starting at 9 p.m. featuring Michael Tafoya’s Lost Boyz. Food and Drink Specials too.
