Lake County Food Drives

Where to donate food in lake countySeptember is Hunger Action Month. You can help end hunger now by donating to one of this current drives.

Highland Park City Hall
Assisting the Moraine Township Food Pantry. Donations can be brought to City Hall {1707 St. Johns Avenue} Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please provide only items fresh enough to serve in your own home. No out-of-date canned or boxed goods will be accepted.

Gurnee Park District
Drop off non-perishable good through September 30 at Hunt Club Community Center, Viking Park Community Center or FitNation.

Looking ahead many events will start to accept food in lieu of an admission fee. The Round Lake Area Park District will be holding a Food Drive-in on November 15 at the Sports Center. Bring a Food Donation and receive FREE admission to the showing of Inside Out

In October Little Lake County favorite Just Peachy Photography will be hosting Halloween mini-sessions for FREE with a donation for the Palatine Food Pantry:

Suggested items (most in need) to bring to a food drive:

  • canned tuna
  • canned fruit
  • applesauce
  • cereal
  • shelf-stable (boxed) milk
  • pasta sauce – all kinds
  • cooking oil
  • jellies and jams
  • pinto or black beans
  • coffee
  • pasta
  • canned vegetables
  • crackers – all kinds
  • toiletries
