With the massive trees decked out in twinkling lights, carolers singing holiday tunes, and a steaming cup of hot chocolate in hand; attending a local tree lighting is the best way to put you in the holiday spirit. We have rounded up all the various Holiday Tree Lighting events in Lake County so you can plan to see your own town’s event or venture out and visit surrounding towns.

29 November 3:00 p.m. – Annual Lake Forest Tree Lighting
Don’t miss out on the annual tree lighting ceremony for the entire family. Enjoy an evening of live entertainment, warm drinks, carolers, and Santa.
29 November 3:00 p.m. – Village of Grayslake Tree Lighting
Every year, Santa rides to town courtesy of the Grayslake Fire Department, and turns on all of the Holiday Lights in Grayslake! Lights will be turned on at 5:30 p.m. activities, sleigh rides, and Santa visits will take place at various locations throughout downtown before and after the lighting.
20 November 4:00 p.m. Light the Lights Glencoe Tree Lighting Celebration
In addition to the traditional tree lighting ceremony, carolers and visit from Santa, enjoy a Wine and Beer Stroll, live reindeer, a trackless train and shopping specials from our local businesses
29 November 6:30 p.m. Libertyville Holiday Tree Lighting
Join downtown heritage area businesses for holiday singing, tree lighting and pictures with Santa in Cook Memorial Park.
29 November, 6:30 p.m. Antioch Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting
Welcome Santa and the Christmas Season to town at the old-fashioned Holiday Parade sponsored by the Village of Antioch. The parade takes place on Main Street between Park Avenue and Depot Street and travels north. Santa joins the community and participates in the parade as the last float which leads everyone to the community Christmas tree.
30 November 2:00 p.m. Festival of Lights Parade and Village of Fox Lake Tree Lighting
Celebrate the Holiday spirit with the Village of Fox Lake at the Festival of Lights! Prior to the parade and tree lighting, attend a Kris Kringle Winter Market located at the Community Garden Green. The parade will start at 5:00 p.m. at Grant Community High school and march down Grand Avenue. Immediately Following the parade there will be the Annual Tree Lighting at Millennium Park.
30 November 4:30 p.m. – Vernon Hills Tree & Menorah Lighting
Help light up the holiday season by watching Mayor Roger Byrne flip the switch to the holiday tree and menorah. Bring the family, the neighbors, and the kids out for hot chocolate, cookies, and cider.
30 November 5:00 – Village of Lake Villa Tree Lighting & Parade
Lake Villa’s annual Lighted Holiday Parade will march down Cedar Avenue and conclude with the traditional tree lighting in Lehmann Park. After the tree lighting, be sure to head to the train station for refreshments and visits with Santa. Don’t forget your camera!
30 November 5:00 p.m. – Village of Volo Christmas Tree Lighting
Carols will begin at 5:00 p.m. and Santa will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to light the tree. Children can have their picture taken with Santa beginning at 5:45 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food item for the Grant and Wauconda Township food pantries.
1 December 6:00 p.m. – Mellody Farm Tree Lighting Festival
Celebrate the holiday season with a Tree Lighting Ceremony at Mellody Farm. There will be hot cocoa, live music, photo opportunities with Santa and more!
6 December 5:00 p.m. – Village of Round Lake Christmas Tree Lighting
The Village of Round Lake will host the annual tree lighting ceremony at the Round Lake Village Hall.
6 December 5:30 p.m. – Lincolnshire Tree Lighting
Holiday tree lighting and festivities on the village green.
6 December 5:30 p.m. Mundelein Annual Tree Lighting
Mundelein’s Annual Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony will take place at the Village Plaza (new location). Festivities include music by Jazz Spectrum and the Fremont Middle School singers. Fremont Library will present the annual reading of Clement Moore’s classic poem, “The Night Before Christmas.” After the fireworks, Santa and Mrs. Claus will open Santa’s Cottage.
7 December 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. – Wauconda Holiday Walk on Main Street & Santa’s Arrival
Santa will arrive on a fire truck to light the tree and kick off the holiday season with a brief Fireworks display. After Santa arrives, join friends and neighbors in the Community Center for crafts, games, stories, and refreshments.
7 December, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Hawthorn Woods Hometown Holiday
Enjoy a visit with Santa and horse-drawn wagon rides while snacking on cookies and sipping on hot cocoa. Bring your Toys for Tots donation to give to children in need this holiday. With the sound of holiday carols in the background, we will end the evening by lighting our community tree to officially start the Hawthorn Woods holiday season.
7 December 4:00 p.m. Winthrop Harbor Holiday Light Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony
The parade, lasting approximately one hour, will travel through various neighborhoods throughout the Village and end up at the park on the corner of 8th Street and Whitney Avenue (North side of the Fire Department), where the North Prairie Jr. High School Band will perform, and a special appearance by Santa Clause will take place! Lighting of the tree takes place directly after.
7 December 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Miracle on Main Street
This special evening includes a visit from Santa Claus and is sure to be a memorable event for your child. Returning again this year will be a beautiful 35-foot tree to be displayed for the holiday season, an opportunity to meet Santa, Mrs. Claus and their reindeer. Event entertainment includes Lake Zurich High School’s Bare Voices, a DJ and the Academy of Performing Arts. There will be children’s crafts, sleigh rides, adult beverages, and food vendors.
7 December 4:30 p.m. Lindenhurst Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
Join the Lindenhurst Park District as they light their outdoor holiday tree at the Lindenhurst Park District Lippert Community Center. Enjoy cookies, juice, crafting, stilt-walker, children’s raffle, Jason the Juggler and of course visit Santa! Don’t forget to bring your letter to Santa and drop off in our Santa’s Mailbox.
