At Foss Swim School, they recognize that learning to swim is a life-saving skill, especially for vacationing families. The Foss program is structured to teach the fundamentals that lead to independence in the water.*  Parents of a Foss student can feel confident knowing their child has been taught the basics of water safety and are building skills towards becoming a strong, safe and confident swimmer.

* Swim instruction does not replace parental supervision. Please remain vigilant when enjoying the water with your family.

It’s been a long winter, so I’m already dreaming of warm weather and water parks. The good news is, we actually do have a few indoor water parks here in Lake County!  Spring Break is just around the corner so if you aren’t planning any road trips and you want to stay local–here are some great indoor water parks to visit.

A great place to go to get away from the cold weather! This indoor water park features a mini lazy river (my favorite!), a toddler area with a polar bear slide and interactive play structures, a zero-depth pool, and a four-lane, lap pool. They also offer family locker rooms, which is great!

Another great place to go to get out of the cold weather! Run by the Vernon Hills Park District, this is a much smaller water park, but great for the little ones. There is a small play structure, a water slide, and a pool that is kept at a lovely 82 degrees. There is also a hot tub, steam room, and sauna for the adults to relax in.

Now we come to my most favorite of all. KeyLime Cove Indoor Waterpark Resort is a destination in itself. It is always such a treat to come here, and it really does feel like an exotic getaway even though it’s practically in our own backyard. You do need to be a guest staying in the resort in order to have access to the water park, so keep an eye on their website for some great Spring Break specials. Also watch for the community passes that become available in May-June of each year. Those passes allow you to use the water park for just the day without staying in the hotel. Limited quantities available.

KeyLime Cove is exceptional though. We have stayed at many various water park resorts, and this one is the cleanest, brightest and has the most attentive staff. We have had great experiences in their arcade and restaurants as well. Their lazy river is our family favorite, but also the wave pool is so much fun. Our toddler loves the little kid water slide area. For the bigger kids and adults, there is the HuVortex (so much fun!), tube rides and body slides. I would say there is something for all ages here!
