Little Lake County knows that the best way to kick-off summer is with a day at the beach.  So we invite you to dive into summer at the Little Lake County Splash at Lake Minear, Friday, June 5th at 3 p.m.

We told you all about this members-only beach, a hidden gem in Libertyville, back in April. Now they’ve decided to open their gates to Little Lake County readers for one time this summer! It’s your chance to experience all the amenities of this private beach, operated by the Libertyville Boat Club.

Splash in spring-fed waters with the kids while Lake Minear’s lifeguards keep a watchful eye. Plan a picnic, use the grills, or grab a snack from the concession stands. Need to check your email while the kids play in the playground? There’s even free Wi-Fi!

Since no trip to the beach is complete without a sand castle, Little Lake County is challenging our guests to put their sand castle construction skill to the test.  We’ll be hosting a Family Sand Castle contest and sharing your submissions on Facebook.  The most creative entry wins a “Summer Fun Gift Basket” courtesy of Little Lake County plus bragging rights when we display the winning entry as our Facebook page Cover Photo for the month of June.

Editor’s Update 5/27/2015:  We’re inviting more friends to the party! We will now be joined by our friends at Artist @ Heart for fun summer crafts as well as  Foss Swim School Libertyville.  We’ll unveil more details soon!
