Located in between Gilmer Road and Old McHenry Road, Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center is a great place to visit for water park fans in Lake County and the Chicagoland area this summer. Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center is sure to please water enthusiasts of all ages, whether you want to play under the hot sun in the afternoon or simply take a relaxing twilight swim.

For younger swimmers, the colorful water playground is a big hit, with water shooting from all directions, a cargo net and multiple small slides. Whether the kids are aiming at mom and dad with the water cannons or showing of their cool moves on the slides, this area will keep the small swimmers coming back throughout the day. The area surrounding the playground is spacious and the water is shallow so the beginners can test their swimming in an area and depth that is just right for them.

Of course a day in the water is not complete without taking trips down the slides, and the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center features two great slides. Take your pick between the tan or the green slide and race your friends down to the bottom. Slides are always and top hit with my boys and they give these slides “two thumbs up.”
If the main pool is your cup of tea, this pool is sure to be your favorite spot of the day. This was the area my family spent the most time because the depth varies and fits swimmers of all skill sets. If swimmers prefer, they can stay in the shallow end to feel more secure or if they need a little extra room for the cannonball contest they can take flight in the 9-foot depth area. Swimmers looking to perfect their swim strokes or get some extra exercise also have room in the designated swimming lanes. The main pool also features diving boards so the high flyers in your family can take to the air to score a perfect ten on their swan dive or splash their neighbors in Mundelein or Lake Zurich with a massive cannon ball.
Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center offers up everything you need for a day of fun in the sun and provides amazing value with their daily fee or pass options. This facility is “Vincent-family approved” and we highly recommend spending a day cooling off in Lake County at this top-notch aquatic center.
