Little Reviews: Somethings Brewing {Grayslake}

Spring has sprung. And it’s a great time of year to head to downtown Grayslake to Somethings Brewing for a cup of coffee. But once you open that door, please realize you will return. Soon after.

See all those blackboards in the picture above? Those are menu items. You obviously won’t be able to tackle them all in one visit. And I don’t even have space to tell you about everything. But here are some options that sound and look fabulous.

Breakfast
What a great way to start your day. First, the selection of coffee at Somethings Brewing is great. I’m always on the lookout for ones that sound more like ice cream flavors than cups of caffeine. Ones that caught my eye: Chocolate Covered Strawberry, Tuxedo Mocha, and Maui Latte (coconut, pineapple, almond, whipped cream, and toasted coconut). Hardy breakfast choices include omelets, paninis, and French toast—all served with seasoned or sweet tater babies. They also have pastries: French apple cheese muffins, bagels, cinnamon buns, and Brew Bombs.

Lunch
So many choices…wraps, salads (spicy muffuletta, pasta caprice, Greek…), soups, burgers, subs, and labrettis: a mini pizza dough sandwich (such as bruschetta, chicken, or turkey guacamole). You will also find vegetarian and gluten-free options. Many items can be made to order. They have a big selection of appetizers and sides as well. Popular ones include bagel chips and spinach dip and their casey bread: flatbread with garlic butter and mozzarella cheese.

Dessert
I probably could just post the word chocolate here and have done my job; however, they have chocolates and more: big cookies, rice cereal treats (cinnamon, caramel, and s’more), turtle brownies, and cannoli. Coffee makes a good dessert as well.

Bringing the kids with you? I think you’ll be fine. Somethings Brewing offers hot chocolate, frozen hot chocolate, and steamers. In addition to all of the other yummy items, they have a PB cup panini (melted chocolate chips with freshly ground peanut butter) and monster cookies. Since they have cookies, wi-fi, high chairs, and a bathroom, you can actually relax and take a breath.

Gift Items
Somethings Brewing also sells many gift items: local honey, locally-roasted coffee, greeting cards, candy, and gourmet popcorn. So feel free to browse while you wait for your brew.

I love this coffee house. It’s easy to find parking and there are lots of tables to sit with friends, kids, a computer, or (should you dare) a book.
