Local Artisan: Bashful Owl Designs by Shannon
Sometimes the best gifts come in small packages. Think about it! Babies. Rings. Wool socks. Chapstick.
No? Not everyone gets as geeked about wool socks and chapstick as I do? Well, let me tell you — life-changing during a midwest winter. Maybe you won’t be giving any of those gifts away this holiday season {babies, kinda hard to be a part of that gifting!}, but don’t underestimate the beauty of a small package gift — especially if it contains a gorgeous handmade jewelry creation from Bashful Owl.

Bashful Owl jewelry is unlike that which you’d find in big-box stores and even many small shops. Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted by owner Shannon in her Lake County home while her two-year-old daughter slumbers during nap and bedtimes. The jewelry is made with mostly raw crystals to give each customer a one-of-a-kind piece, and awesomely all are priced below $50, making it rather affordable to gift Bashful Owl creations to several people on your holiday gift list.
While you can find Bashful Owl jewelry in two stores — Wolbait & B-Girls in Chicago and Atown in Austin, TX — it’s probably easiest to take a peek at Bashful Owl’s Etsy Shop. Bashful Owl’s Facebook page is also a must-visit; Shannon hosts regularly giveaways and offers discounts and sneak peeks.
