MADE is a paid partnership with Little Lake County.
Welcome to MADE in Lake County! MADE introduces you to the people and stories behind local Lake County businesses. Today it is our pleasure to introduce you to Carlos Archila. Carlos is the owner of Lake County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a martial arts & fitness facility for all ages located in Mundelein.

Beth Dahlenburg lives in Lake Barrington with Larry, her husband of 20+ years, and together they manage their restaurant. Beth and Larry are the proud parents of a 19-year-old son, Wyatt, a freshman at Purdue University; 16-year-old daughter, Kara, a sophomore at Barrington High School; and 13-year-old daughter, Morgan, a 7th grader at Barrington Middle School. Beth grew up in Moline, Illinois, and have lived in the Barrington area for 25 years.

Is there a hidden gem in your town, or a local activity that you enjoy?
As a resident of Lake County, I really appreciate the beautiful forest preserves. I like bike-riding, walking my dogs, and spending time in the beautiful marshlands, parks, and protected areas. The lakes throughout the area also provide opportunities for family outings, boating, and beach time.

What is the biggest challenge you face in finding a work/life balance?
The biggest adjustment to owning and operating my own business was the magnitude of a six-day-a-week / 16 hour a day business. We employ almost 80 people. The first year of operations was overwhelming. We’re so grateful for the patience and support of the community as we seek to bring this outstanding National Brand to the Northern Suburbs of Chicago.
I highly value my family and want to create a healthy work environment for my team. I’m so grateful Chick-fil-A has always been closed on Sunday so our team can spend time with their families and rest.
What is the most important thing you want people to know about your business?
Our vision is to create memorable experiences for our guests by consistently providing excellent food and remarkable service in a positive environment. We are a family-owned and operated franchise thrilled to bring the brand of Chick-fil-A to the Northern Suburbs of Chicago. We firmly believe in treating every person who comes through our doors with honor, dignity, and respect. We aim to serve the greater Lake County community through volunteerism and giving. We commit to taking care of first responders as we honor the commitment they make to our community. We value families and education and look to partner with schools, businesses, and non-profits. We will strive to be a leader in the community that is known for remarkable service and excellent food.
Our heart and passion is to partner with schools to encourage education, leadership, and service. We’re bringing the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy to the high schools in Lake County.
