We were curious to see how a Dreamworks movie could be adapted to live theater. The creative use of costumes and puppetry blew us away. Costume designer and assistant director Jesus Perez assured us that “Madagascar is already an established idea, but since this is a live production and not a movie, it has opened up a world of creativity for us. This is the perfect vehicle for me as a designer to bring this fantastical world to life.”

Madagascar – A Musical Adventure is a perfect way to introduce little ones to live theater. To be honest, I was worried that my four-year-old would have a hard time sitting through the hour-long show. He’s been known to make us leave a movie theater 30 minutes into the showing because it’s “too boring.” At Madagascar, he sat in my husband’s lap and watched the entire production in awe. Later, he told us his favorite part was the “penguins’ mouths and how they moved when talking.”

Don’t forget to check out Tracy’s review of Seussical the Musical. She has useful tips for going seeing a show at the Marriott with little ones. We didn’t have to use the washroom during the show, and had no idea there was a TV in the lobby by the bathroom! Thank you Tracy.
