Meet Your Favorite PBS Friends at The WTTW Kids Fun and Run on August 14th in Chicago

Don’t miss The 8th Annual WTTW Kids Fun and Run on Sunday, August 14th in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The event consists of a 3K Family Walk with activity stations and 5K Fun Run with proceeds benefiting children’s public television; however, the real draw for your little ones will be the chance to see their favorite PBS characters in person.

Sesame Street characters such as Elmo, Grover, and Cookie Monster will be walking around giving hugs and photo opportunities galore. You’ll also have the chance to meet characters from other shows like Arthur, World Girl, WordWorld, and Curious George. I also hypothesize that a certain little boy I know will be pretty excited to meet Buddy from Dinosaur Train.

Other celebrities of the non-costumed variety will also make an appearance. Martin and Chris Kratt of the Wild Kratts will be flexing their creature power live and in person. For WTTW Members, a special pre-race concert at 8:00 am will be held featuring Ralph’s World.

While your kids are busy being starstruck, you can enjoy complimentary food and beverage and a variety of strolling performances. If your kids have more energy to burn after the race, let them bounce on giant inflatables or chill out by participating in crafts.

Register by June 13th and receive 10% off your registration fees and a $10 gift certificate to Fleet Feet Sports Chicago. Advance registration closes on August 5th. Your registration includes an official t-shirt, event number and goodie bag (children under 24 months may participate for free; however they must have paid registration to receive a goodie bag.)

This kind of event has everything we look for in a great family outing; we get to make a trip to a city we love and be active with our kids while supporting a great cause. And if that wasn’t enough, I’m pretty sure seeing the Kratt Brothers sealed the deal for us!
