“I enjoy the burger joint the same way I enjoy fancy meals,” said German real estate tycoon Aby Rosen. That man is absolutely right. Lake County has that and more of America’s food at Miller’s Dogs N Suds Drive-In in Ingleside.
The drive-in 50’s style restaurant features items like homemade root beer, root beer floats, Coney dogs, chocolate covered frozen bananas, shakes and Texas burgers.
The staff acts the part as they are dressed in pony tails, pedal pushers and tied red scarves to give you that Grease Lightning feeling.
The Dog and Burger joint have been opened since 1967. In the summertime on the picnic patio, is where it is the ideal to eat. With the opening this year on May 24, the Ingleside eatery celebrated its 47th year in business.
The Drive-in has daily specials including Tuesday 99 cent hot dogs, Wednesday $2.99 breaded buffalo or grilled chicken sandwiches, Thursday 99 cent charco burgers and Friday $2.99 fish sandwich.
After keeping their doors opened for nearly half a century, they have received numerous awards like Car Craft Magazine’s Top Five Cruise Spots in Chicagoland since 1967 and the Daily Herald’s top 10 list for hot stands in the Chicago Area.
To top off the era and the cool environment you’re in, once a month they feature their Classic Car Cruise Night. There are different themes for each one, but the night coming up shortly has 50’s & 60’s rock and roll music with Tony & The Affects. The cars are from the 1973 area and everyone’s welcome with a dog, creamy root beer and a site to be seen.
Read between the buns and devour one of the tasty dogs and wash it down with the sweet goodness of their homemade root beer.
