If you are in McHenry County and looking for a playground with lots of variety, then stop by Emricson Park in Woodstock. You will find a variety of climbing structures and a plethora of slides for all ages.

Just next to the parking lot, in a heavily shaded section, is a lovely tot playground. With easy to climb stairs and ramps, and slides made for little legs, this area is a perfect place for little explorers. For the bigger kids, there are oodles of options. They can choose a tall triple slide with exciting plunges, a metal zip line, and swings of all sizes. Across the driveway towards the east is also another large playground, better for bigger legs.

The centerpiece of the park is a primary-colored castle. With a plunging slide and bridges and lookouts galore, it’s a place for imaginations to run wild. Your kids can pretend to sit at the table, raise the drawbridge, and ride a bucking dragon and a pirate ship (teeter-totter) made for six!

A walking path meanders past ponds and under the expansive trees surrounding the climbing structure. This grassy park also has a pavilion with picnic tables, benches for caregivers to rest on, and a great big sandbox (bring your own shovels and pails).

The next time you visit the Woodstock Square, head down the road to Emricson Park for a picnic and great place to play!
