Playground season is here! I’m excited to share a newly-renovated park with you: Clearview Park in Waukegan.

Clearview Park is just off of McAree Rd., north of Grand Avenue. There is plenty of parking (as well as a bike rack).

This playground is perfect for climbers. There are large boulders, a rock wall, and lots of rope webs to climb up and across. There are the usual things: swings (baby and regular), monkey bars, and slides.

Next to the structure designed for ages five to twelve is a smaller one for two to five year olds.

The two playgrounds are right next to each other—perfect if you have multi-aged children. As well, there are benches around the structures to keep an eye on them.

There is not a ton of shade on the playground itself, but there is a large pavilion with picnic tables to cool off and have lunch at. Restrooms were open when we were there, and they’re clean! There are also water fountains.

If you’re child is a Gaga Ball fan, there’s a Gaga pit—just bring your own playground ball. There is also a brand new basketball court, so pack a basketball as well.

Is it a hot day? Why, there’s a splash pad at this park! Come prepared to get soaked! The water is easily turned on with a button, and nozzles spray in all directions.

Clearview also has a fitness trail. Various apparatuses are stationed along the trail that winds around the park.

Clearview Park had a little something for everyone.

Need an ice cream stop afterward? Growing up in Waukegan, I can’t help but mention how close this park is to Shirl’s Drive-In (about 1.3 miles). You can read my review of both Shirl’s and Lighthouse Mini Golf to learn more.

What is your kids’ favorite thing to do at Clearview Park?
