Read Across America Day in Lake County

Read Across America

March 2 was Dr. Seuss’ 100 Birthday. To celebrate Dr. Seuss and literacy the NEA started Read Across America. This year Read Across America is today, March 3, 2014. Here are a few ways you can participate:

  • Visit Barnes & Noble for their Read Across America Storytime and Celebration. Locally they are happening at 10:00 a.m. Deer Park, 11:00 a.m. Hawthorn Center,  4:00 p.m. Lincolnshire
  • Visit your local library for a storytime. You can find all our storytimes on the calendar.
  • Pull our your favorite Dr. Seuss book and pair it with a craft or a movie. Heather put together a great list for us last year.
  • Check our Seussville  and wow your kids with your game skills.
  • Have a family game night! Pick up the Cat in the Hat I can do That! game and a good laugh as you try to balance a cake on  your head while twirling!
  • Join PBS Kids for a Cat-ebration with an all new 1 hour special airing today and new episodes all week.

In the spirit of Dr. Seuss go out and have fun with your kids!
