Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and it has us thinking ROMANCE over here– moms and dads especially need a little romance in our lives! It can be hard to take a step out of the usual routine, so we’ve asked our writers to share their favorite romantic spots with you!
Romantic nights out proved to be too hard for us to do on a regular basis, so instead we do a weekly date at Cacao Sweets & Treats while the kids are in school. Less time commitment and less expense than a big night out, which we used to schedule once a month and always ended up putting off because something would come up. But a weekly pastry and coffee are easy to stick to and we get to converse without the kids and don’t need to hire a sitter. –Loralie

I always think of Italian as the quintessential romantic meal. Paisano’s on Broadway in Richmond is just the place. With ornate Italian decor, excellent food and wine, and romantic ambiance, this is the perfect destination. Just across the street is Olive Black Lounge, a very cool martini bar with full food menu that often features live music. Olive Black Lounge is a great stop for drinks before or after dinner–maybe fondue for dessert? This combination is perfect for Valentine’s Day or to celebrate a special occasion.

My husband and I like to go try new restaurants, especially those that focus on farm-to-table menus and locally-sourced ingredients. After dinner we try and hit up a local brewery or bar that features local craft beer. For us, it’s not about the specific destination, but more about exploring new places, food, and beer. Ad-Lib Geocafe is a favorite restaurant, and a visit to Tighthead Brewing Company is always fun, too. –Holly
