Shop Local: Celebrate Local Toy Store Day!

I love shopping local toy stores. Not only do they have knowledgeable staff and more interesting and unique products they are also more fun! Remember when you were a kid and you got to go to the toy store (or for me bookstore). It was an adventure! An outing! It wasn’t something you just picked up with your milk while you we’re rushing through errands.

The American Speciality Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) knows that too and they celebrate it yearly on Neighborhood Toy Store Day, which is this weekend.

Toy Store Day

Lake County is Home to some great Toy Stores that are definitely worth the time to go visit, especially this weekend as many of them will be celebrating with demos, sales and giveaways!

Snickelfritz Toys
208 Hawthorn Ct, Vernon Hills {Lower Level by JCPenny’s and the Play Area}
847-918-8160 |  Website | Facebook | Pinterest | YouTube

Snickelfritz was a 2012 12 Shop of Christmas and while in the mall and is still a family owned gem. Now in their 23rd year serving Lake County they have all the hottest new toys as well as old classics. The staff is helpful and friendly and always willing to help. I was looking for an airplane or kite to use as a decoration for my sons birthday, they had the best airplane kite hanging in their store. They sold it to me right off the ceiling No packaging, no haggling or complaining, just pulled out a ladder and sold it to me.

Learning Express Toys Lake Zurich

This is our happy place. My older kids love it because it is THE place for Rainbow Loom. They have the World’s Largest Loom as well as a staff that is skilled and teaches classes on the loom! My littles love it because there is so much to play with when you visit!

LE Toy Store Day

Toy Store Day Events include demos and sales. While you are there pick up their November Calendar for other events including a visit from everyone’s favorite sisters.

Northerly Outfitters
1166 E. Washington St., Grayslake
847-548-0800 | website | Facebook

Northerly Outfitters has been featured in our Green Guide and as a Mompreneur in our 12 Shops of Christmas series. From the outside it may look like a hiking, camping outdoor store but really it’s so much more. Owner Amy Strack stocks it with unique, interesting and quality games and toys that will encourage learning or connect kids to the world around them. Visit them on toy store day for demos, games and sales.
