Sneak Peek: Buffalo Creek Brewing

Long Grove, IL

Lake County’s newest taproom and craft brewery, Buffalo Creek Brewing, is set to open on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Beginning with a ribbon cutting at 9:00 a.m., beer will flow to the public at 10:00 a.m. and a day-long celebration will feature live music in the afternoon. Buffalo Creek Brewing is the dream of Vernon Hills resident Michael Marr and represents many months of hard work and determination.

According to Marr,

Buffalo Creek Brewing is a destination brewery located in the heart of historic Long Grove with a Bavarian-style taproom and bar, communal tables, and a beer garden. It’s a place for people to socialize, build community, and enjoy great German and Belgian-style beer.

Speaking of beer, Buffalo Creek Brewing will open with three styles of beer: Marrvelous, a Kölsch; Farmer’s ILlegit Daughter, a saison; and Mamet (named after an artist known for creating Buffalo sculptures), an American Pale Ale.  Later this summer, two additional styles will be added: Beau Fleu (the name translates to “beautiful creek”), a Double India Pale Ale; and 42K, a Belgian Strong Ale.

With over 10,000 interior square feet, Buffalo Creek Brewing is spacious. The interior boasts wood and stone decor, with wrought iron and copper accents. The building houses the taproom, brewery, and production lines. There is a patio area in the back, and the building opens up to a large, grassy backyard. The taproom is lined with windows that offer picturesque views of the back of the property, as well as let in ample natural light.

While there is no kitchen at Buffalo Creek Brewing, patrons are encouraged to bring in their own food from any number of local restaurants, and several will deliver food to the taproom. Marr hopes to feature live musicians, hold trivia nights and utilize the outdoor space for games such as horseshoes and giant Jenga.

Buffalo Creek Brewing is a family-owned, family-friendly destination. In addition to beer, soft drinks will be served. The Kölsch, which I sampled, is outstanding and wonderfully refreshing. I can’t wait to try the other styles of beer at Buffalo Creek Brewing. Marr’s passion and persistence have paid off in a big, beautiful way here in Long Grove. Don’t delay–make the drive to downtown historic Long Grove and see for yourself!
