Who doesn’t like food?
I love food!
June is Country Cooking Month and to celebrate we are sharing a few of our favorite country cooking recipes.

Barbecue Beef Brisket Recipe
Country cooking is all about slow cooking. Simmering food for 12 hours, spending all day cooking, and sitting down at the end of the day to see others enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Realistically, who has time for that?
The good news is that you can fake that all day long cooking taste, in a matter of a few hours.
When I think country, I think barbeque. Here is my favorite Barbecued Brisket recipe, straight from my kitchen to yours.
Barbecued Brisket Recipe
Serves 12 (ish)
Authors Note: This is made with fresh beef brisket, not corned beef
- 1 beef brisket, 3 pounds
- 1 1/4 Cups of water divided
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3 tbs red wine vinegar
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 2 tbs brown sugar
- 1 tbs Worchestershire sauce
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/4 tsp liquid smoke (do not let this ingredient scare you. You can get it at most grocery stores, just ask for it)

- Place brisket in a large dutch oven (or any large pot with a lid) Add 1/2 cup water. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1- 1 1/2 hours.
- Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan coated with nonstick cooking spray, saute the onions and garlic until tender. Add ketchup, vinegar, lemon juice, brown sugar, Worchestershire sauce, cornstarch, paprika, chili powder, pepper, and remaining water.
- Simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Add liquid smoke; mix well.
- Drain drippings from the dutch oven. Pour sauce over meat. Cover and bake 1-2 hours longer or until meat is tender.
This is the perfect recipe to end a full day. What sides would you serve with this dish?
