At the heart of Jump Up! Family Music is “music play”; dancing, sing-a-longs, rhythm activities, and musical games that make every event an enriching experience for both children and caregivers. Dana’s songs and events focus on family-play, encouraging children and parents (and grandparents, etc.) to sing, dance, and move together.
Dana lives in Winthrop Harbor and has performed at a number of locations in Lake County including the Zion Benton Library, Antioch Library, and the Stay 2 Play Cafe in Gurnee (you can find a full listing of his past locations at his website here).

Jump Up! Family Music also offers Birthday party performances or specialized movement and music classes for special groups/events!
Dana’s original songs are written specifically for young children, with their musical, physical, and literary development in mind. The songs provide simple cues to guide children while at the same time allowing them freedom to experience the music in their own unique ways. He released his first full-length CD, Chocolate Milk and Other Tasty Tunes, in February 2012.
I had the chance to review Dana McCarthy’s CD, Chocolate Milk and Other Tasty Tunes, with my two daughters and the second I put the CD on, they were lured away from their Elmo Video and immediately started singing and dancing along…the lyrics are fun and easy to remember, so it didn’t take long for my eldest daughter to catch on to them and sing along! This would be a great CD to bring along on a family road trip!!
Dana’s CD was voted #1 selling album in CDBaby.com’s “sing-along/interactive” sub-category and #4 for over-all “kids and family” CDs!
Here’s a video of my daughter dancing/singing along to one of her favorite songs on the CD “Fish In The Sea”!
