With Mother’s Day right around the corner, and a summer filled with the usual plethora of celebrations, shopping for gifts is always on our minds during this season. Shopping at the big box stores can help us get what we need, but for unique, creative and handmade gifts, it is fun to shop with small businesses, local artisans and pop-up shops in and around Lake County.
This spring, Lake County is booming with some amazing pop-up shops and boutiques where you can shop unique handmade goods, gourmet food, fresh flowers, produce, and even antiques.
Mundelein Market Spring Fair
April 30, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Mechanics Grove Elementary School, 1200 N. Midlothian Road, Mundelein
Admission is $5; children ages 16 and younger are free.
The Mundelein Market is an organization dedicated to promoting local crafters, artists, and small businesses. The Spring Fair is an event celebrating all of these hard working people, and giving us a chance to have a unique, one of a kind shopping experience. Over 75 vendors will be in attendance selling everything from clothing and handmade candles to fresh baked goods and home decor. Along with local vendors, Jewel-Osco will be selling fresh produce, a local flower shop will be selling fresh flowers, and the market will even be hosting a used book sale where every book is only $1! If you find that all the shopping is making you feel hungry, you can fuel up at the snack bar, or buy some delicious food at the food truck from Food From Your Soul that will parked outside! There will also be many amazing raffle prizes, and so much more! Stop by the Market for a wonderful and unique shopping experience like no other!

The Lake Forest Local Artisan Food Market is back for a second time with more vendors, new offerings and even more wonderful people–all under one roof. Visit the booths of local artisans including Holcomb Hollow, Reprise Coffee Roasters,Taste of Paris bakery, Dave’s Sharpening, All About Appetizers, The Aspiring Kitchen, Waterfall Glen Soap Co., Mathur Creations-Desserts from India, and Jillycakes. Food Revolution-Lake County will also be attending.

Gurnee Mills Mother’s Day Shopping Event

This fun shopping event features local business owners and is the perfect place to purchase any last-minute Mother’s Day gifts on your list.

Vintage Market at the Grove
May 14, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m
The Grove, 1421 Milwaukee Avenue, Glenview
Admission is $5 if purchased online, and $8 on the day of the event.
Glenview Park District is hosting a Vintage Market at the The Grove. This location boasts beautiful nature trails, and a lot of things to see and learn about at this historic landmark. The Vintage Market is an added bonus where you can shop for all the vintage and upcycled treasures you can find, while enjoying all The Grove has to offer. There will be over 50 vendors, live music and food trucks, and it promises to be a day well spent! This market is also held in conjunction with The Grove’s Annual Plant Sale, an event where you can come and peruse beautiful perennials, flowering pots and baskets to dress up your yard in time for summer.

Enjoy a large selection of dealers selling country antiques, beautiful collectibles, architecture and garden accents, and unique vintage items all in a beautiful garden setting. The event is held at Northwind Perennial Farm, located on a turn of the century farm, and is the perfect destination for nature and garden lovers.
