This fall, the Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences brings Shrek The Musical to children and parents of all ages. Based off of the Oscar winning Dreamworks Animation film, Shrek The Musical follows Shrek’s journey with a hilarious Donkey as he attempts to rescue the princess while he is joined by familiar fairy tale characters along the way. This musical features new songs from Jeanine Tesori and book by David Lindsay-Abaire.
The temperature outside is getting colder by the minute and the Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences is the perfect place to deliver a hilarious, one-hour performance inside a warm theatre that is perfect for the whole family. Each time we visit, we are greeted by friendly ushers, a fun and unique set design, and the theatre-in-the-round stage which has us captivated with fun coming from all directions. With an official run time of about one hour and ten minutes, we were hooked from start to finish as we watched our favorites from the big screen come to life in front our very eyes.
Shrek The Musical had the four of us waiting to see what comes next throughout the show. The Marriott Children’s Theatre put together another amazing performance that keeps the audience on their toes. The actors come and go effortlessly within the show and there is never a moment where the action takes a break. Between the incredible singing from our favorites like Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona, and the music, lights, set design, and hand-tailored costumes, we truly were captivated from the first scene. It was a great way for us to be together as a family on a Saturday morning, and the 10:00 a.m. showtime is perfect for young children and exhausted adults.
Be sure to stay for the live question and answer session with the cast after the show when visiting the Marriott Theatre. The actors will visit the audience in search of questions from young members in the audience to give more insight into how the show is run. Our favorite parts of the show include the set design, funny characters, and the story.
Our family always loves to visit the Marriott Theatre and we are excited to see more shows in the future! With such high quality shows and a great lineup for families, the Marriott Theatre for Young Audiences in Lincolnshire is a cherished Lake County institution. I am excited to share our experience with my friends and family and let them know that Shrek The Musical is a great show for everyone!
