Our April Top 10 is presented by Gorton Community Center, presenting the Lightwire Theater from NBC's America's Got Talent. Their show "Moon Mouse" is perfect for children ages 3-10 and tickets are only $15!

But with so many options, we’ve pulled some of our favorite events and put them in our popular Top Ten Things to Do this month feature! - Earth Week- Playdate with Nature
April 16– Earth Day is a great time to teach your kids why it is so important to love our earth — but it is also important to share with them how we can enjoy it, too! Celebrate nature with fun at Independence Grove with other families eager to enjoy the outdoors! - Smilin’ Saturday Stories
April 7– Enjoy classic tales brought to you by Improv Playhouse with some improv, songs, lessons and hilarity to enjoy a free morning out! Seats are limited, but free!
- Summer Camp Open House & Cookie Decorating
April 14– Are you looking for a fun, flexible camp for the summer or days off of school? Taste Buds Kitchen offers camps that meet your family’s needs. Swing by to meet the staff and see what camp might be like and decorate a cookie as a trial run! - Animal Babies
April 29– Spring is when we get to see all of the new beginnings, and baby animals might be the best part! - Rookery Watch
April 7– If you’re a native to Lake County, or have been here long enough, you know that herons are one of the beautiful animals we can see regularly. I’ve never been with someone who could ignore a heron that was nearby, they’re unique enough, but still easily found here. Eager to learn more and see them nesting? Why not join the Lake County Audubon volunteers to learn and see more? - Messy Playdate
April 21 – Dress for a mess and Learn about the Lake County JCC! The Messy Play Date will include building mud castles, blowing colored bubbles, balloon stomping, face painting and more!
- Moon Mouse A Space Odyssey
April 8- Head out to Gorton Community Center for an incredible show about an outcast, adventure and acceptance. A science experiment takes Marvin to the moon where he learns more than just about outer space. (Tickets $15, two shows.) - Muse: Fine & Performing Arts Festival
April 11– Join students and staff at Grayslake North High School for an interactive art experience for children of all ages! Watch, participate and learn, all while supporting the students at GNHS. - Dave DiNasso’s Traveling World of Reptiles
April 22– Have over to the Grayslake Area Public Library for an experience with reptiles you won’t want to miss! - Earth Day
April 21– Gather with other community members to celebrate Earth Day with a community wide clean up. After, refreshments, raffles, and more will be available to celebrate Earth Day!
Bonus! Parent Only Event: Join Little Lake County at the annual Busy Brains Brain Builder Gala Tell the Tale. On April 13 at the Lehman Mansion, help raise the funds to open Lake County’s first children’s museum. Tickets are $40 each.
What’s on your calendar in pen this month?
This beautiful and innovative theatrical production is a cosmic adventure is about celebrating differences. Join Marvin the mouse on the space adventure of a lifetime; a trip to the surface of the moon where he meets a strange cast of misfit creatures. This show is perfect for children age 3-10. There will be two shows: 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available on the Gorton Community Center website.
