As a mom, one thing I know for sure is that little kids love tractors! I don’t know if it’s an Old McDonald thing or the association with farm animals, but starting at about 18 months of age both of my kids were obsessed with them. For her second birthday, all my daughter wanted were John Deere tractor toys, and 3 years later she still loves those same tractors. I was thrilled to see this new event come up on Bonner Heritage Farm’s calendar. My family loves this unique Lake County Forest Preserve property. Whether it’s for a class or a quick visit to the park there, my kids always have a great time.
On May 18th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Bonner Farm is partnering with the Lake County Farm Bureau and the Lake County Farm Heritage Association to provide kids with this unique opportunity to experience a little bit of farm life. Kids will have the opportunity to climb into the seat of a real tractor, speak with farmers, help raise a barn, churn butter, ride a pedal tractor, and more. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch, participate in kid’s crafts and games, and enjoy the farm property, including a trail around the farm. Bonner Heritage Farm is in Lindenhurst on Sand Lake Road just west of Route 45, and parking is located off of Country Place Lane. Admission is $3 per person, and children under 3 are free.
