Last month, we had a simply darling time at Twirl and Tap with Dance Academy of Libertyville! Our readers brought their tiny dancers to another sold out Little Lake County playdate. We twirled and tapped to our hearts’ delight while we checked out Dance Academy Libertyvile’s Pre-Academy program for children ages 2.5 – 5 years.

The Pre-Academy program is described as “structured creative play introducing rhythm and balance, while giving the youngest dancer a love and understanding of dance.” It is developmentally appropriate for young children and helps to instill an appreciation for movement while building a foundation of the basics.
Pre-Academy Classes Offered:
Two Much Fun: 2.5 years of age by the start of each session (next session available in November)
Pre-Ballet 1: 3 years of age by September 1
Pre-Ballet 2 & Pre-Tap 2: 4 years of age by September 1
Pre- Ballet 3 & Pre -Tap 3: 5 years of age by September 1
If you missed our event, feel free to call (847) 247-1327 to schedule your own personal tour. New Pre-Academy dancers may try a class for FREE prior to registration. Registration is still open and ongoing. Enrollment is pro-rated after Wednesday, September 16th.

Our prima preschoolers had more than one means of artistic expression. Artist at Heart provided an art project and let little imaginations shine. Your preschool child ages 2- 4 can participate in their Artsy Tots program every Wednesday and Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sensory activities, art projects and storytime are offered for only $5 per child. No need to register, just drop in! Punch cards available for this class, 11 sessions for $50. Learn more about Artsy Tots in Melissa’s review.

Speaking of artistry, Cali Parisi-Laursen Artistry and Sarah from The Strand lent their magic touch to give the girls a little extra sparkle. Updo’s and a little glitter spray helped each girl feel like a princess. Mommies can feel like a princess too when you visit Sarah or Cali at The Strand in Libertyville. Learn more about Cali in Ready for Your Close-Up.

Precious memories deserve to be captured professionally. We were so lucky to have Jessica Lynn Studio on hand to photograph the event, and offer keepsake images of all the little dancers with Dance Academy of Libertyville’s senior ballerinas. Jessica Gebbink of Jessica Lynn Studio is a natural light and lifestyle photographer specializing in newborns, children, and family photography. Be sure to visit her website and Facebook page for more stunning examples of her work.

The perfect day needs a sweet finish, and thanks to Dalton’s Cakes in Grayslake, participants went home with lovely ballet slipper sugar cookies. Dalton’s Cakes offers a variety of custom favors, cakes and other tasty treats from their storefront in Grayslake along with a breakfast and lunch menu. Alison Dalton is our featured Locally Grown Business for the month of September. Learn more about Alison and see examples of her custom work.

Dance Academy of Libertyville is not just for toddlers and preschoolers. School-age children may receive placement in their Academy program (classes in Ballet, Jazz/Lyrical or Tap/Contemporary) or Open Programs in Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Through the entire month of September, boys ages eight and up who are not currently enrolled can attend the Boys Class on Wednesday nights for FREE. Call (847) 247-1327 to reserve your spot today!
