While this is not the summer we had planned for, we can still give our children some fun and engaging experiences. While we wait for the state to fully re-open summer camps, many Lake County camp providers are offering virtual camp options to keep children entertained and engaged over the summer. Burned out from being your child’s teacher or don’t have time to put together learning opportunities, these camps are just the ticket!

Virtual Nature Camps
Spark your child’s natural curiosity with programs that will answer their questions and inspire them to get outside and explore.
While we can’t meet in the preserves this summer, we can still learn about local nature and history.

All six Lake County Forest Preserves virtual summer camps offer a fun educational experience presented by our professional nature and history educators. Some camps, such as Wetland Explorers, feature a self-guided outdoor adventure component that families can do together.
Whether learning virtually indoors with our educators, or outdoors on their own, campers can explore some of the most beautiful natural areas in the region, hear about Lake County’s rich history, and discover what prehistoric times were like when dinosaurs roamed our area.
Dates: June 15-19, 22-26, July 6-10, 13-17, 27-31, and August 3-7, 10-14

Children in grades K-6 receive four exciting activity kits packed full of materials to get them outside and active as they explore concepts of flight, tackle environmental challenges, build the ultimate sports complex, design the next great invention, and gain confidence as innovators and entrepreneurs! This flexible program reinvents distance learning — it can be screen-free and self-led, or it can be enhanced through online collaboration sessions with Coaches and fellow participants.
