Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal with CROCODILES in Lake County! The Wildlife Discovery Center’s annual CROCtoberfest brings in experts from the Chicago Herpatologial Society to the living wildlife nature museum for a unique hands-on experience. And when I say “hands-on,” I mean it! Your hands will be on a real, live, crocodile!
CROCtoberfest is more than just a petting zoo experience. On Sunday, October, 23rd from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., the knowledgeable staff will share insight about the fascinating creatures and answer your questions. All of the other animals at Wildlife Discovery Center will be on display, too. See Boris the resident bobcat, snakes, turtles, and more. World-famous American Alligator “Bubba” and his wrangler Jim Nesci will be at the event from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Enjoy face painting, storytelling, children’s activities, craft vendors and more fun for the whole family. And don’t miss seeing the skull of a 24-foot saltwater crocodile! Normally, admission to the Wildlife Discovery Center is free, but they ask for a $10 donation per person for this special event. Your donation will support crocodile conservation efforts worldwide and the Wildlife Discovery Center. This is a popular event, so consider arriving early to beat the crowds.

Little Lake County’s Loralie T. describes the Wildlife Discovery Center as a “hidden gem for hands-on animal interaction” and says this event is well worth the donation for admission. Head to the Wildlife Discovery Center and get wild! It’ll be fun for the whole family, and you’ll be supporting this great local effort.
